Meghan Markle started dating Prince Harry in 2016 when she was working as an actress on American legal drama Suits. The 38-year-old Duchess started her career in acting in 2002, but stopped in 2017 when things with Prince Harry got serious. From 2011 to 2017, she played Rachel Zane on Suits, and slowly became a household name as she entered the second season of the show.
A body language expert has now revealed how the Duchess of Sussex has changed since she was an actress.
Judi James explained how Meghan used to look “uncomfortable in her own skin” back in 2012.
Ms James told Mirror Online: “Meghan’s eye expression looks flat or even dead.
“She’s narrowed her eyes to add to the sexy look but there’s none of the excitement and engagement we see so frequently now.
It appears the Duchess also felt uncomfortable in her own skin as “Meghan’s hand and her hanging arm seem set to cover her body rather than reveal it.”
By 2016 speculations were circulating Meghan and Harry had met and were dating.
This relationship apparently “couldn’t have come soon enough for the Suits actress” as “she might not have been completely happy or motivated” as a Hollywood actress, Ms James said.
Despite still acting at this point, it seems Meghan was already slipped into her royal persona.
The body language expert added: “As she leaves the red carpet though we can see the ‘performance’ drop and a glimpse of a Meghan that is far more familiar to royal watchers, doing her signature exit: a cute, low-status ‘baby wave’ that suggests she wants to be liked”.
After Meghan’s engagement to Harry, the former actress’ confidence appeared to rise.
Ms James said the Duchess’ confidence can be spotted as she boasts a much wider stance with her legs.
She added: “Her wide smile looks congruent now because it reaches her eyes.”
Meghan is currently on an official trip to southern Africa and Ms James said the Duchess of Sussex has shown she has matured in her role.
Ms James said Meghan is now “fully immersed and engaged” as she matures in her royal role, adding: “Her confidence levels are now at their highest.
“She stands straight and upright, with her turned-up collar suggesting status.”
“This is a much different Meghan to the red carpet version but there are still some constants in her body language repertoire.
“As she leaves we can see a retention of that signature sweet ‘baby wave’ gesture.”
