A married vicar has apologised and resigned after having an affair with a parishioner.
The Revd Simon Bone was in charge of eight parishes across Cornwall, but has stepped down from his duties.
Writing to the Bishop of Truro, he said: "I am deeply sorry for the hurt and upset that I have caused to everyone, but especially to my family."
A spokesman for the Diocese of Truro confirmed the situation, adding: "The Diocese takes all matters of professional and personal conduct seriously, and will take appropriate action as necessary and depending on individual circumstances."
Revd Bone joined St Michael's Church in Newquay in 2011.
He had trained for the priesthood at Rippon College in Oxfordshire and was made a deacon in 2009 at the church in Newquay.
He has also served as a chaplain for the Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service.
In his profile on the website for the Eight Saints churches – St Day, St Petroc, St Paul, St Piran, St Stythians, St John, St Feock, St Wenappa – website, he wrote that he is married with one daughter.
He added: "Prior to ordination I worked for Royal & SunAlliance insurance company as a supervisor and trainer.
"I trained for the priesthood at Ripon College, Cuddesdon, and was ordained deacon at Petertide 2009.
"I served my title as an assistant curate at St Michael's Church, Newquay and I am currently the priest in charge of the Eight Saints' Cluster and WAY2 internship.
"I am a training incumbent for a curate, a member of the management board for the St Petroc's Society, the assistant rural link officer for the Diocese, a chaplain for the fire brigade, a member of Diocesan Synod and the assistant diocesan director of ordinands."
