Fresh from the emotional rollercoaster that was the latest series of Married at First Sight UK, Matt Murray jetted off overseas to Turkey alongside 2021 bride Marilyse Corrigan to relax and unwind after a stressful few months.
The pair, who are said to have struck up a firm friendship since appearing on the show, headed off to the sunny paradise on Tuesday 18 October, with Matt even sharing a photo from the plane window of his Jet2 aircraft prior to take off.
Marilyse herself also shared a selfie from the airport on social media, in which she posed for the camera in a chunky oversized knit before embarking on the trip to enjoy a few days of well earned rest and relaxation.
Heading to the luxury Alan Xafira Deluxe Resort, on the southern coast of the country, Matt shared his first update from the trip on Wednesday afternoon as he shared a selfie of himself soaking up the sunshine at the popular resort.
In the image, the Huddersfield native could been seen showcasing some of his impressive ink work as he reclined on a sun lounger, while his eyes were kept shielded from the harmful rays by a pair of mirrored sunglasses.
Marilyse however, took a far more proactive approach to her holiday as instead of simply topping up her tan, the personal trainer took to the streets of Antalya to explore.
In a short story shared on Instagram, the MAFS star could be seen walking past camels in the street, adorned with red and black patterned blankets and a plethora of red and yellow tassels.
However, beyond this, no further details were shared about the recent getaway, leading many to wonder if a private romance could be blossoming between the pair.
With both Marilyse and Matt are local to Yorkshire, a romance could well be on the cards if they chose to pursue it, however, a spokesperson for both stars was quick to put any rumours to rest as they insisted that the pair are simply friends.
They told OK!: "There’s no romance, Marilyse has gone to recover from a marathon which she ran for Kidney Research recently and she’s celebrating with her son that it's a year since donating her kidney to save his dad’s life.
"Matt has gone to recover from the trauma of the show, as you’ll have seen last night it’s taken a toll on his emotional wellbeing. Marilyse knows oh too well how the public reaction can impact the mental health of the men on the show as she saw how it impacted Frankie.
"So she’s being nothing more than a supportive friend to him whilst other friends from the show are filming the Christmas reunion.”
Marilyse's friendship with Matt comes after she recently revealed that she'd been dating another of this year's contestants – Pjay Finch.
She told OK!: "I went out with Pjay a couple of times. He’s such a lovely guy. He seemed quite shy when I first met him, I’m not going to lie, he was reserved.
"I went to watch Dreamboys in my hometown of Hull in October last year and then we met a week or so later.”
It also follows on from Matt’s recent split with Whitney Hughes, who he controversially decided to date during this year’s series, despite both himself and Whitney being married to other people at the time.
