With Christmas just around the corner (well, nearly), it's time to start thinking about gifting. At the very least, it's time to start thinking about items you want to add to your own list.
If you always have a designer fragrance on your wish list – or if you know a loved one will always ask for one – now is a good time to pick up or decide on a bottle. And if you need a little help finding the right spritz, Lookfantastic's new data on the most shopped perfumes of 2023 might help you narrow down the selection.
If you're thinking that the spritz that's nabbed the top spot of that list is an expensive EDP, you're wrong. The number one fragrance that's repeatedly made its way into our virtual shopping baskets is actually a £22 body spray from Sol de Janeiro. In fact, it even beat big names like YSL and Tom Ford.
If you're interested in knowing the full list, here are the five scents Lookfantastic shoppers loved this year…
1. Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 62 Perfume Mist, £22 here
Thanks to TikTok and the brand’s affordability compared to luxury scents, Sol de Janeiro 62 is Lookfantasic's best-selling fragrance of the year, with the brand itself making up a whopping 22% of the beauty retailer’s fragrance category sales.
The e-tailer also reports that demand for the body spray category is rapidly growing, with most of which is down to Sol de Janeiro fragrances. If you're keen to find the scent for you out of the brand's expansive mist offering, our OK! deputy style director has reviewed her favourites here.
2. Yves Saint Laurent Libre Eau de Parfum, £92 here for 50ml (currently on sale for £78.20)
YSL Libre takes the second spot thanks to its tangerine, neroli and vanilla-based scent that's universally loved. It also has nearly all five-star reviews on its Lookfantastic shopping page, with one wearer noting: "Libre is one of my favourite fragrances. I get most compliments when I wear it. Very long-lasting."
3. Tom Ford Black Orchid Eau de Parfum Spray, £75 here for 30ml
Lookfantastic reports that many of its best-selling fragrances are unisex. Tom Ford is a brand known for its unisex scents, although, this particular Orchid EDP seems to be mostly shopped by women. It's also the perfect season for it, with one shopper saying it's "heady and autumnal",
4. Armani My Way Eau de Parfum, £65 here for 30ml
Jasmine, tuberose and white flowers make this floral scent a must-have for those looking for a subtly sweet and feminine EDP. "It smells absolutely beautiful and I love that it lasts all day long. Nothing will ever be able to compete with this!" says one repeat customer, and this review seems to be shared by plenty of others.
5. Marc Jacobs Daisy Eau de Toilette, £52 here for 30ml (currently on sale for £41.60)
We guarantee this classic scent makes plenty of sales around Christmas time because many of us will note it down on our wish lists. If you're looking for a lighter perfume, or if you want to gift someone younger and introductory scent, this jasmine, sandalwood and white violet EDT is perfect.
