Kate Middleton will be staying up late this evening, in a bid to follow a sweet royal tradition.
On 22 July, adorable Prince George will celebrate his eighth birthday – where has the time gone?
And, as per royal tradition for Kate, she’ll stay up until midnight to make the tot his very own birthday cake.
Kate is believed to wait until the children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – have gone to bed, and she then begins her baking.
Kate discussed her sweet tradition for her children while appearing alongside Mary Berry on BBC show A Berry Royal Christmas in 2019.
She told cooking extraordinaire that baking the kids a cake had become something of a tradition in their household.

Kate explained: “I love making the cake. It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it."
There’s another fun tradition in the Cambridge household too when it comes to the kids celebrating their birthdays.
Julia Samuel, who was a pal of Diana and Prince George’s godmother, says she’ll get the children toys which are hard to assemble, meaning Prince William will have his work cut out for him.
“I do to George what [Diana] did to us, which is give impossible toys that are really noisy and take a lot of making,” Julia explained.
She added, while on Elizabeth Day’s podcast,: “William then has to spend days putting together. And then put all the machinery together, and it makes awful tooting noises and lights flashing and all of that."
The close friend of Princess Diana also gave a rare insight into Prince George's "cheeky" personality on Elizabeth’s How To Fail podcast last year.
"He is amazing. He is funny and feisty and cheeky and god she [Princess Diana] would have loved him so much. I mean that is heartbreaking for all of them. "
Prince William and Kate Middleton
It comes after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are reportedly considering not issuing an official photograph of Prince George to mark his birthday this year, a royal expert has claimed.
Kate has reportedly been left "upset" after trolls mocked his suit, laugh and demeanour following the Euro 2020 final at Wembley Stadium in London.
The couple usually share a portrait of their children to mark special milestones, often taken by keen amateur photographer Kate.
But royal biographer Angela Levin has suggested they might break with tradition this year due to previous attacks from online trolls.
Speaking on True Royalty TV's Royal Beat, she said: "There are rumours that we might not see the photograph [of Prince George] when he's eight, because they've been so upset by the rudeness of people mocking a little boy aged seven, and I hope they can overcome that."
