We may be envious of the ultra-lavish pads of some of these stars, but we are probably glad we don’t have the ghosts that stay in them.
Having a huge net worth can help you afford a security system to keep intruders out, but it offers no protection from spirits plaguing the hallways of your home.
From doors slamming shut for no apparent reason to full spirit sightings, some stars have been forced to hire voodoo priestesses to sort out the paranormal activity where they were living.
In honour of Halloween read on to find out which stars have lived in a haunted residence and lived to tell the story.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge often spend the school holidays in their Norfolk home. There has been no official paranormal sightings yet
The Prince and Princess of Wales
The future king and his family often spend spend their school breaks at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
A wedding gift from his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, the Georgian mansion is reportedly haunted.
Paranormal historian, Richard Felix alleged a ghost of a Catholic priest roas the halls of their Norfolk countryside home.
In an episode of Hello! A Right Royal Podcast, Felix shared the tale of a spooky priest who had been charged with high treason and then hung drawn and quartered.
Although the alleged ghost was killed in York, the priest can still be heard in his former home of Anmer hall.
According to the historian, when the then Duke of Cambridge was cautioned about the spirit, he hilariously quipped: ‘No old hall would be complete without a ghost, would it?’
No public reports of any ghostly happenings in the royal residence have been made by the family.

Loretta Lynn
On an episode of Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel, the late country music legend detailed the paranormal happenings in her home in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
Loretta Lynn, who died in 2022 aged 90, once told how she saw a ghost of a bereaved mother in the former plantation house.
In another incident, her late son witnessed a ghost of a Civil War soldier attempting to take off his shoes.
After doing some research, her family found out that a Civil War battle was fought on the grounds of their property – and more than 18 Confederate soldiers could be buried there.

Nicolas Cage
Nicolas Cage’s home in New Orleans’ French Quarter has a well-renowned reputation for being spooky.
Its harrowing history of its previous resident Delphine Macarty LaLaurie, a cruel and vengeful enslaver, is a key fixture in the plot of American Horror Story: Coven.
To the public, the mistress of the house was kind to enslaved people, she had even freed two – however the reality of her treatments towards them inside her home was nothing short of a real life nightmare.
Two enslaved people jumped to their deaths rather than endure her barbarity, however her cruel nature remained rumours until April 1834.
A fire that blazed its way through the mansion, revealed the depravity of her cruelty, with as emergency services discovered a group of imprisoned enslaved people who had been viciously totured.
According to All That’s Interesting, many were found with gouged out eyes, broken bones and worse.
Delphine Macarty LaLaurie soon fled, however her mansion reportedly remains one of the most haunted in New Orleans, with the cruel woman’s victims forever wandering the halls.
But despite many spooky incidents being reported since the bloody woman’s passing, Cage said he has not experienced anything other-worldly in the home, the New York Daily News reports.

Courteney Cox
It is not only in the comedy horror – Shining Vale – that actress Courtney Cox has lived in a haunted house.
The Friends star had witnessed paranormal activity in her previous home in Laurel Canyon.
When the previous owner, Carole King, told the actress about the paranormal activity in the property, Cox was not convinced.
However the paranormal denier soon changed her tune after one spooky night and a conversation with a delivery driver.
In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel she explained how an eerie delivery man asked her if she knew her home was haunted.
Elaborating on the incident, Cox said: ‘I go, ‘Yeah, why? Why do you think that?’ He goes, ‘Because there is someone standing behind you.’
The actress shortly sold her home afterwards, adding: ‘I couldn’t sleep there alone ever again.’

Liam Payne
The former boy band member sold his Calabasas home to singer Halsey, after several encounters with a spirit.
The ghost allegedly wore a pair of cargo pants and an army shirt, according to the One Direction singer.
Payne and his then partner, former XFactor judge Cheryl Cole, were living in the Californian home during her pregnancy with their son Bear.
But a haunting and pregnancy are not a great mix according to Payne, speaking with The Sun in 2017.
The Girls Aloud member would not go into the top room whilst she was pregnant according to Payne.
He added: ‘I’ve seen lights go on and off in the middle of the night and a few little creepy things, like taps turning on and off.’
It has not been solidified if the home remains plagued by the cargo pant wearing spirit, however Halsey did opt to sell the home this year.

Brad Pitt
Fight Club actor, Brad Pitt swapped his Los Feliz home with that of oil heiress’ Aileen Getty in April of this year.
According to Architectural Digest, Pitt opted to downsize to the $5.5 million mid-century-modern dwelling.
However, the previous owner of his former Los Feliz home, Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, claimed the residence was subject to hauntings.
Elvira, also known as Cassandra Peterson said ‘I’ve seen people walking around upstairs, for example, real people just walking.’
She also alleged that one spirit sat brazenly in front of her fireplace, while they saw another bobbing at the bottom of the pool.
However, the Oscar-winner was not fazed by the idea of the paranormal incidents in the house, calling it ‘awesome’.

Adele
The Someone Like You songstress was shaken up by unidentified noises in her previous residence.
So much so he appointed a bodyguard to stay at the Sussex home for £100,000 per night, The Argus reports.
The singer also hired an additional two security guards for the gates at the entrance of the home.
She previously told a friend: ‘I’m not rattling around here on my own. It gives me the creeps.’
Walking through a dark hall with Anderson Cooper whilst filming a 60 Minutes interview, Adele remarked: ‘This bit is quite scary really.’
Although, none of the musician’s staff spotted anything out of the ordinary, they did come across a previously unknown public path that lead all the way past the house’s door.
The Grammy winner later moved from the property in 2012, to live in a house in Hove with her previous partner Simon Konecki.

Salma Hayek
The actress revealed the supernatural activity in her London home was so frightening that her staff were on the verge of quitting.
In an interview with Ellen DeGeneres in 2021, Hayek said: ‘I didn’t see this, but some bodyguard didn’t want to work there anymore because the piano played by itself.’
She explained that many – including herself – witnessed lights would switch themselves on and off, while doors would open and shut without any explanation.
Her 14-year-old daughter, Valentina alleged she experienced ‘the worst’ of the spooky incidents having seen the spirits a coupe of times.
Her husband François-Henri Pinault believed their suspicions to be ‘nonsense’ however the From Dusk Till Dawn actress was adamant on getting in a professional to deal with the ghouls.
She added: ‘Oh my goodness. So he came…and he starts going through the house and is like, ‘Yeah there’s an old lady here and a child’ and this and that.
‘Everybody’s like freaking out even more. It’s worse because he found like 20 [ghosts].’
Hayek elaborated that she the paranormal expert managed to get rid of most of the ghouls but there were two spirits who would not budge from the property.

Octavia Spencer
In 2021, the Oscar-winning actress alleged a friendly Hollywood Western film star was haunting her home – but she loved it.
The Hidden Figures star purchased her 1,714-square-foot Toluca Lake bungalow for $841,500 in 2013.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom property is modest in size for a movie star but has plenty of charm, including a ghost, apparently.
Spencer told Ellen DeGeneres that she has ‘boundaries’ with the spirit who also resides in her Toluce Lake, California home, noting that the ghost was ‘more protective than anything.’
She explained the spirit is good at spotting bad apples and drives out any malicious people out of the property.
However, the spirit reportedly becomes sour when Spencer has been away from the house for a little bit too long.
Describing the disgruntled ghosts antics, she added: ‘The doors close, the lights go off when I turn them on.’

Joan Rivers
Joan Rivers luxurious triplex Manhattan penthouse was reportedly haunted by its former tenant Mrs Spencer, who was also the niece of banker J.P. Morgan.
The late comedienne’s home, located on 1 East 62nd, boasts incredible views of New York City.
Its interior was also mapped out by renowned architect Horace Trumbauer, and has been labelled among his ‘great houses’ in the Big Apple.
The property has 11 rooms in total, with five bathroom and four bredrooms, as well as a dining room, a large living room and a library.
Despite the opulence of her home, the star was still plagued by the ghost of Mrs Spencer.
The late comedian revealed she had even invited a voodoo priestess into her home to sort out the unexplained happenings.

Prince Muhammad bin Fahd bought the unit after the comedian’s passing for $28 million, and was planning to completely renovate the entire triplex, according to Architectural Digest.
No one has officially come forward to say whether there have been any eerie happening lately, however the Prince has put the residence back on the market for $34 million.
Claudia Schiffer
The supermodel 14-bedroom English Tudor home is definitely old enough to boast a few spirits.
In 2017, she told the home magazine she would often hear strange noises in her home and that music would randomly spring into action.
The mansion, which was built in 1574, is shaped like a H in reverence King Henry VIII and was allegedly christened by Queen Elizabeth I.
The home belonged to the same family for over three hundred years before it was bought by Schiffer and her husband.

Schiffer brought in a medium to inspect the spooky activity, however the supernatural professional told her everything was fine.
She told Artichectural Digest: ‘We hear creaking noises and strange things happen sometimes, like the music comes on,
‘We had a medium go around, and she told us that actually all the ghosts in the house are lovely. No one needs to be scared. We welcome all the ghosts, basically.’
