DEAR DEIDRE: I’M 66 and working my way through my bucket list. I’ve done a cruise, a parachute jump and next up is nude modelling for artists.
I’m a retired male and divorced, with an average physique. I’m not sure why I want to pose naked, but I do.
I contacted a local art group and my first job is booked for next month. The big problem is I’m now regretting it.
I have no problem being naked in front of strangers but I have no experience of life modelling.
I don’t want to make a fool of myself or let the class down at the last minute.
DEIDRE SAYS: Tell the teacher beforehand that it’s your first time and ask what is expected of you and how to prepare – maybe practise holding a pose for increasing lengths of time.
But think why this is on your bucket list. Were you made to feel ashamed of your body as a boy? It may help to talk it over rather than just pose in silence.
