DEAR DEIDRE: AN old school friend is due to get married next month but I don’t want to buy her a present. I feel like I’ve spent quite enough.
There are five of us girls, we are all 23 and we’ve stayed friends since school.

She asked us to sort out her hen night and so we decided to pay all the costs.
She fancied Spain for a week but that cost far too much so we compromised on a weekend in Blackpool. We’d been there before as a gang.
We picked out a classy hotel and it didn’t come cheap. We went for a really nice meal and we had lots of wine.
I nearly fell over when I saw the bill. We went to a nightclub as well and our friend didn’t pay for a thing.
Was she grateful? No. She just kept going on about Spain. Now I’m broke.
DEIDRE SAYS: She sounds very ungrateful. It was generous of you and your friends to splash out for her hen do like that.
Don’t get in debt but don’t spoil her big day.
I bet you got some good photographs from Blackpool, so how about printing one out and then getting it framed. You could find a stylish frame in a charity shop.
She might get the message and realise that hen do was really a great wedding gift from her friends.
