It’s hard to believe it’s been 14 years since Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince first hit cinemas, but as the entire franchise returns to our screens this week, a new generation of magic lovers have been able to fall in love with the adventure of Harry Potter and his wizarding pals.
While many of the movie’s stars such as Daniel Radcliffe,Rupert Grint and Emma Watson have scarcely changed in the years since the film’s debut, one cast member, Georgina Leonidas is a far cry from her on screen persona of Katie Bell.
Originally playing the Quidditch player who was sadly cursed by a dangerous necklace when she was still only a teenager, now aged 33, Georgina looks virtually unrecognisable from her wizarding alter ego.
The talented actress appears to be keeping a low profile these days, but is still working as an actress, with her most recent project seeing her lend her voice to the Mia and the Dragon Princess video game alongside former Doctor Who star Paul McGann.
Although Harry Potter is just one of her many claims to fame, Georgina actually started out as a child star on the West End stage performing as a young Cosette in a highly commended performance of Les Miserables.
Despite her theatre beginnings, her first real brush with household stardom came when she snagged a coveted regular role on CBBC series The Basil Brush show as Molly in 2002, a role which saw her star in ever single episode of the series for four series, before popping up as a guest star from season five onwards.
Alongside her children’s TV role, Georgina also went on to star in various episodes of Holby City, Myths, New Tricks and Father Brown over the years, with a further wealth of theatre roles following.
Showcasing her skills on stage, Georgia managed to secure a number of memorable roles, including in productions of That Face, Black Coffee and Awful Auntie.
Clearly a skilled performer, it appears talent runs in the family, as two of her siblings Dimitri and Stephanie are also in demand actors, with both having appeared in everything from The Monuments Men and Down to Earth, through to MirrorMask and The Bill during their careers.
Interestingly, her older sister Stephanie also launched a children's book with her husband Robert Boulter, entitled The Adventures Of Presley & Bella and the Invisible Monster, to help raise money for the NHS.
