The family of a teenager who died suddenly from a "massive" heart attack after a night out are still waiting for answers.
Sinead Maguire was staying over at a friend's house after a night out on Friday when she stopped breathing and went into cardiac arrest.
The 18-year-old's mum Sharon Curran received a text from her daughter at 4.30am to say she had got home safely – but six hours later her friend called to say she was in trouble.
Paramedics tried desperately to save Sinead, of County Louth, Ireland, after she had gone into cardiac arrest but were unable to get any heart activity, said Sharon, reports the Liverpool Echo.
“The hospital told us she had died of a massive heart attack," the heartbroken mum continued.
“They have already done tests on her to say that it wasn’t drugs or anything like that.
“They don’t know if she had a congenital heart defect.”
Sinead, who had two brothers, Sean and Toby, 'loved music and she loved going to concerts' and 'had so many tickets' – with plans to see Harry Styles and the 1975 later this year, said her mum.
The tragic teenager was also a massive fan of Liverpool FC, having watched the Reds beat Athletic Bilbao 3-1 in Dublin in 2017.
She also saw Liverpool Legends 2-1 win against the Ireland Legends in aid of Sean Cox – a Liverpool fan left with brain injuries after being attacked before a match against Roma in April 2018 – in Dublin last year.
Sharon said: "[Sinead] had visited Liverpool several times, and every time she came over she went to Anfield.
“She was planning to come over to Liverpool again. She was looking forward to seeing the new statue [of former manager Bob Paisley]."
Jamie Bell, 20, a good friend of Sinead’s from Dublin, said: “I met her three years ago at a concert, ever since then we were inseparable.
“She has two brothers, Sean and Toby, they were so close.
“She was that person in the room who made everyone laugh – she never let anybody be sad.
“And she was passionate about so many things – music, TV shows, and her dog.
“She loved Liverpool Football Club,” he continued.
“If she had any plans then she would change them to work around the [Liverpool] game. That’s what we really bonded over at first.”
Jamie has been trying to get in touch with Liverpool FC to see if they can acknowledge Sinead at an upcoming game at Anfield.
He said: “Whenever she was over in Liverpool she would go to Anfield.
“Anfield was her second home – the happiest place she’s ever been.
“A home away from home.”
Sharon and her family are still waiting for a full report from the coroner to find out the exact cause of her daughter’s death.
