FRUIT that has seen better days doesn’t have to go in the bin.
Get the most out of your purchases by using soft bananas, slightly spoiled strawberries and other fruit to make a range of ice lollies.
Here are some recipe ideas to get you started . . .
SQUISHY BERRIES: If your strawberries and blueberries are getting old, turn them into ice lollies rather than chucking out.
Mix them up with apple juice and a squeeze of lime, then freeze in moulds for a super refreshing snack.
You can also use up old bananas to make a creamier lolly by blitzing with a little milk instead of apple juice, plus a couple of tablespoons of honey.

OLD AVOCADO: Overripe avocados can make a healthy and delicious treat.
Blitz the flesh from one large avocado with the juice from half a lime, 150g of Greek yoghurt and three tablespoons of honey. Blend until completely smooth then pour into your ice lolly moulds, freezing overnight.
PAST ITS BEST MANGO: Mango that is overly soft will still taste delicious when frozen. You can blitz the flesh with pineapple juice, a squeeze of lime and a little honey or syrup to sweeten.
Or make the ultimate tropical flavour and blend with pineapple chunks as well as coconut cream. Once blended, pour into moulds and freeze overnight.

MELON-CHOLY KIWI: If you have watermelon lurking at the back of your fridge, use it up by blending together with kiwi.
Again, it doesn’t matter if the kiwi is overly ripe, it will still taste delicious when frozen.
You can add a squeeze of lime for some extra depth, then pop in your moulds for freezing.
