Even death could barely do them part.

After over seven decades of marriage, a Georgia couple died within 12 hours of each other.

Herbert Delaigle, 94, died at 2:20 a.m. Friday — followed shortly by his wife Marilyn Frances Delaigle, 88, who died at 2:20 p.m. the same day.

The two met when Marilyn was 16 and working at a small cafe.

“I got my eyes set on her,” Herbert,  who was 22 at the time, recalls in an interview WRDW/WADT did with the couple in 2018. “I finally got up the nerve to ask her if she would go out with me sometime.”

Their first date was to the movies. A year later, they wed in a ceremony that cost just $5 — and to which Herbert was an hour late.

When Herbert served in the army during World War II, Marilyn moved to Germany for six years to be with him, according to her obituary.

They are survived by their six children, 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

The Delaigle family released the following statement: “It’s amazing how they were together for 71 years and now they are together in Heaven. What an amazing love story that is.”

Their secret to a long marriage?

“Show your love,” Herbert said in 2018.

“And be there for each other,” Marilyn added.
