Princess Beatrice, has made it clear that she doesn’t want to follow in the footsteps of her sister, Princess Eugenie, and royal cousins, Prince William and Prince Harry, with a massive showy event and it has been reported that she will be throwing away the royal rule book and having her wedding her own way. But, with a recent fallout in the family will Beatrice be even offered to wear a royal tiara? Or will she be banned?

Princess Beatrice, the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, is due to walk down the aisle at some point in 2020. She got engaged to boyfriend Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi this year but a date has yet to be announced, with some wondering whether recent family fallouts will interfere with her right to wear a tiara on her wedding day.
The diamond-encrusted and glittering headpieces are a regular feature on official royal events or special occasions. Tiara’s from the royal archive has been worn by Kate, Meghan and Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie at their weddings, and attracted just as much attention from the public as the wedding dress worn.
The Duchess of Cambridge wore a scroll tiara, featuring 49 baguette-cut diamonds as well as 739 brilliant-cut diamonds and was estimated to be worth between £750k and £1.2 million.
The Duchess of Sussex wore a Cartier tiara with an art deco bandeau of diamonds and valued at more than £2 million.
However, the most extravagant and spectacular tiara adorned the head of Princess Eugenie, when she married Jack Brooksbank in 2018.
The 93.70 carats cabochon emerald tiara, which was hand made by Boucheron in 1919, was borrowed from her grandmother the Queen and was valued at a steady £10 million.
So, with recent family fallouts will Beatrice be allowed to wear a tiara?
Many have speculated that with the recent BBC interview that Beatrice will decided on having much more quiet wedding, royal expert and author Marlene Koenig tweeted: “Beatrice’s wedding will be collateral damage. I will not be surprised if she has a rather quiet wedding, out of the public eye, with a few photos, no live coverage.”
She added: “This will be better than an announcement that they have decided to postpone marriage.”
Therefore, it could be very likely that she throws away this royal tradition and chooses not to wear a royal tiara as jewellery expert Geoffrey Munn explained that anyone can wear a tiara, therefore it’s very unlikely for Beatrice to be banned, even with recent family fallouts.
He said: “Any woman may wear one, but ancient tradition has it that they must be a bride or already married.”
Previously, it has been reported that Beatrice has supposedly told her parents she isn’t interested in a big showy event at Windsor, especially after younger sister Eugenie was ridiculed last year for her wedding costing the taxpayer about £2 million to police.
Opting instead for a more conservative and low-key venue to host the reception, potentially even at her parent’s house.
According to the Mail on Sunday, one of Beatrice’s friends said: “Beatrice has said she and Edo are looking at alternative venues because she wants something different.
“The wedding will not be in Italy and from what they are saying it won’t be in St George’s Chapel, Windsor, either.

“There have been three big Royal weddings there in the past year or so and I’m not sure that’s what Bea wants.
“Edo has a child, there’s the situation with his ex, and Beatrice might just feel something more low-key might be more fitting.”
The Queen’s granddaughter does have the luxury of being able to opt-out of royal protocol, by dropping to ninth in line to the throne – due to the birth in May of Prince Harry’s son, Archie.
Buckingham Palace announced Princess Beatrice’s engagement to property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi at the end of September this year.
The statement from Buckingham Palace said: “The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Her Royal Highness Beatrice of York to Mr. Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.
“Her Royal Highness and Mr Mapelli Mozzi became engaged while away fro the weekend in Italy earlier [in September].”
In a joint statement, the betrothed couple said: “We are extremely happy to be able to share the news of our recent engagement.
“We are both so excited to be embarking on this life adventure together and can’t wait to be married.”
In a touching tribute to his wife-to-be, Edoardo then took to Instagram to share a series of photographs by Misan Harriman at Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park – which shows the pair cosying up to each other, giggling and pulling playful faces at one another.
Posting the pictures to his official Instagram account, he said: “You will never be alone my love, my heart is your home. Hand in hand, today, tomorrow and forever.”
