THE countdown to Christmas has begun and it’s the little things that keep the children excited about each day of the festive period, but all these little things can add up.
While everyone else is rushing out to get their advent calendars, matching Pj’s and Christmas eve boxes, this mum has decided to do things a little differently and it’s saving her a lot of money.
Mother of three, Kimberly @mummykim_1 shared her money saving idea on social media.
In a clip that gained over 7000 likes Kimberly shares her alternative to the popular Christmas eve box and built up a ‘December Box’ for her children instead.
The Santa Sleigh featured in her video cost just £5 from B&M. The best part is this mum just fills her sleigh box with festive books and games that she has kept from previous years, cutting down her costs.
Creating a fun and festive box that lasts the month seems like fun all round but not everyone's convinced.

Kimberly said: “I’ve seen so many negative comments about a December box but I actually think they’re great – especially when you use the majority of items from previous years.”
Unperturbed by the negative comments Kimberly boasts: “We did a December box last year and it really worked for us. The little ones were able to use the items over a few weeks rather than just one day.
"And because I’m using a lot of items from last year like the books, slippers, games, and some of the arts and crafts – it didn’t cost as much."
In her TikTok you can gain inspiration as you see the mum adding items like festive Grinch slippers, Christmas books that include games and activities and of course Santa's Elf on the Shelf.

"This year I got my little sleigh from B&M and my plan is to put a little elf at the front.
"I just know little kids will love to wake up to this on December 1st" she declared.
Commenters applaud her efforts with one responding to this mums alternative idea saying:
"December box…never thought of this, this is new to me… and I love this idea, feel like i been under a rock."
Another chimed in saying:
"I do this instead of a Christmas Eve box so he gets a full months of use."

Another, ditching the overrated Christmas tradition and found a way better alternative and it’s cheap as chips.
