A MOTHER was left shocked after her sister-in-law demanded she pay for her designer top after her baby vomited on it.

Taking to online forum Reddit, the mother posted about the incident asking if she was "an a******e" for not wanting to reimburse her for the fancy garment.

Writing about the confrontation, she changed her child's name to Dany.

"My sister-in-law has been trying to have a baby since a while now, so she got very emotional upon seeing Dany and would not let anyone else touch her," the woman wrote.

She said she was happy to let her relative hold the baby as she was glad of the break.

She then added: "But then I noticed that she was holding Dany way too tightly. I tell her this and she says, 'Just because I don't have a child doesn't mean that I don't know how to hold one'.

"My husband said that I'm right and she should hold Dany a bit more gently," she continued.

The new mum said her sister-in-law insisted the baby was fine and it would be obvious if she was "uncomfortable".

"As if on cue, Dany puked all over her. This freaked out SIL and she handed over Dany to my husband."

However, this is where things got complicated as the sick was on her sister-in-law's outfit.

"Sister-in-law then looks at her shirt and goes, 'Oh no. This is Gucci. Your daughter ruined my Gucci shirt'," the woman wrote.

I told her that we're not giving her any money and that we warned her twice she was holding the baby wrong but she chose not to listen.

"[I] apologised and said that Dany didn't do it on purpose and that we can get it cleaned for her."

But the woman insisted the top was worth thousands and she needed to pay up.

The mum added: "I told her that nah, we're not giving her any money and that we warned her twice she was holding the baby wrong but she chose not to listen.

"[My] husband said that his sister shouldn't have worn such an expensive shirt if she wasn't ready for it to be ruined, since she knew she was gonna be with a baby all day (sic)."

Other users commented on the post and agreed the mother wasn't the one being "an a******e" with many questioning the auntie's decision to wear the top in the first place, and others suggesting she should simply wash the garment.
