A SAVVY mum has shared her money saving hack after she ran out of mop pads, and used an old cloth instead.
Rachel Sharp claims she’s never going back to pricey refills after she discovered an old dish towel works just as well – for a fraction of the cost.
The mum even claims her floors came out looking better than before, as the cloth buffs them as she cleans.
Rachel had bought one of the popular £15 Flash speed mops, which is a hit with cleaning queen Mrs Hinch.
While the mop has proven popular, you need to keep buying refill pads, which cost £6 for a pack of 24.
But Rachel says she’s ditched them for good after discovering her cloths work just as well, claiming she’s going to save a ‘fortune’.
She shared her tip to Facebook group Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips New, where it’s racked up dozens of likes.
Rachel said: “Cleaning/money saving hack!
“Ran out of the pads for my flash mop so I used an old towelling cloth (clean) and my floors have turned out so much better!
“I think because it buffs them up a bit as you mop. Never buying the disposable pads again!”
Dozens of people have commented on the post, saying even an old T-shirt does the trick.
One person said: “I do this, I use at least 6 each time I do the floor. I clean each section with a clean cloth on one side then flip over and repeat.
“When I am done I just pop them in the washing machine. Much better for the environment and I think they clean better.”
Someone else wrote: “Have always done this. Flannels and vanity towels are just the right size. Hand towels cut in half.
“Large bath towels and bath sheets go for dog towels.”
A third wrote: “Never had disposable mop.or special cloths….old t towels and and face cloths have always been perfectly acceptable.”
This person thought: “I wondered if you could do that with a power mop . I might give it a try.”
And another raved: “That is shiny!! Looks amazing!”
