How would you describe your style?
Elegantly dishevelled.
What is the oldest thing in your wardrobe?
A gold charm bracelet my parents bought me. It has lots of charms from places I visited as a child and whenever I visit a new place I buy a little charm to add to it.
Sarah-Jane Clarke.
The most recent addition?
I wear a lot of my own label [Sarah-Jane Clarke], so I don’t really buy too many clothes, mostly handbags and shoes. My latest purchase is the “Face Mask” bag by Lucy Folk. I love supporting
Aussie designers.
What would you wear …
… on a first date? A linen suit in medina pink from my new collection, with a pop of orangey-red lipstick.
… on a plane? My linen tracksuit.
… to the Oscars? It would be the perfect excuse to go to one of LA’s many amazing vintage stores and pick up a spectacular couture gown.

Your favourite fashion decade?
I love the elegance of the 1920s and ’30s. I am a big fan of puff sleeves and belted waists. And
I do love a sequin and a bead!
Do you have a favourite designer?
No, there are so many clever ones out there. I do like Simon Porte Jacquemus. He’s talented and quirky, and his designs make me smile.
What are three essential items in your wardrobe?
My Veja trainers. Eres lingerie. And a vintage belt, for cinching. One thing I do like about my body is my waist.
What’s your favourite fragrance?
Synthetic perfumes give me a headache, so I wear natural scents and essential oils. At the moment it’s a hand-pressed jasmine oil which I discovered in Jaipur, India.
What was your worst fashion mistake?
I’ve had some very interesting haircuts over the times – from mullets to perms to scalp bleaching – but clothing? It was probably when I used to wear jeans, a sports bra, a denim vest over that and then a cap. That was my take on sports luxe back in the early ’90s.
Can you remember an outfit you loved as a child?
A pale-mint romper suit with little shoe-string straps that tied up in a bow on the shoulders.
It was almost like bloomers at the bottom and it had a little ice-cream pocket. I thought
that was quite fabulous when I was 10 years old.
What would you buy if money were no object?
Antique jewels.
What would you never wear?
A skin-tight bandage dress.
Is there a current trend you like?
Linen and puff sleeves.
What shoes do you wear most often? My little red Rosetta Getty slippers. And trainers for when I need to get things done.
Do you have a favourite fashion icon?
Lauren Hutton – I think she oozes casual elegance.
What was your first fashion moment?
To my school formal I wore a black velvet, to the knee, fitted long-sleeve dress with a cut-out of a heart at the chest and little gold love hearts hanging off it. Now that was quite a big moment.
Do you have a favourite off-duty, casual Sunday look?
Having three boys I am often in combat gear. For me, that’s a wide-legged linen pant with a matching top. I love a matching set.
