A DIY pro has revealed how he transformed the bland space above the staircase in seconds using a few bargain buys from The Range – and now people are calling for him to design their homes too.
Like with most homeowners, there are always a couple of spots in your house that drive you mad.
Perhaps your latest DIY attempt didn’t quite go to plan, or maybe you never got around to finishing that spot off.
For Josh, that was the spot above his staircase, which was pretty bland apart from some chipped old paint.
So he decided to give it a budget makeover using a bargain neon sign and some fake plants from The Range – and people are loving the final result.
He said: “Hallway makeover.
“With my s*** DIY skills in hand, I thought f*** it, let’s do this stuff all over again, shall we?
“And why Roger even allows me to use my skills around the house, I do not know, because I am the ‘King of Bodge’.
“I bodge, I bodge, and I bodge.
“But, being honest, today was a stroke of luck. I was walking around The Range while Roger was filling the trolley with a load of s*** and I came across this sign.

“And what a perfect sign to go in my house.
“The one trait my parents definitely gave me was being impulsive so that s*** went straight in my trolley.
“I got it home and I had no idea where I was going to put it.
“But I’ve already f***** the hallway up once, so I thought let’s have to it, shall we?
“Around I went, around the house, pulling out every bit of foliage I could find, sticking it on this bad boy to make it a little bit more boujee.
“And while Roger was asleep, I went outside got the ladder, and I thought f*** it, I’m going to use my DIY skills and nearly kill myself.
“And when I say to you, ‘do not try this at home’, because being on a ladder with a half-a-stone picture, being over the stairs is really not a good idea.”
During the one-minute reel, Josh shows how he attached the neon sign to four artificial foliage squares using a hot glue gun, before adding a few more fake branches and stems to finish it off.
He then secured it to his landing wall using nails, before revealing his speedy makeover to his husband.
Below the video, he added: “From the chipping black paint… to a wall mural that suits our house perfectly.”
Shoppers can pick up similar style articular plant plants from The Range for just £9.99, as well as individual branches and stems for £1.99.
And while the Welcome to the Madhouse LED Neon Sign, priced at £69.99, is currently out of stock online, it may still be available in some stores.
