A HAIRDRESSER has revealed why you need to stop washing your hair so often, as it could actually be making it greasier.

Courtney Travis is a hair stylist so she knows a thing or two about making your locks look their very best.

And while many of us would assume that giving your hair a rinse would be the best way to freshen it up, Courtney says that just isn’t the case.

Speaking in a recent TikTok video, she explained: “If you can, avoid washing your hair every day, even every other day is a great option and something like an apple cider vinegar rinse is something really great if your hair gets greasy and you feel like you need to wash it but that way you’re not stripping out oils.”

And for those trying to grow their hair, controversially a haircut might be in order according to Courtney.

She explained: “Trim your hair, even if you’re growing your hair you still need to trim it to keep it healthy.

“I personally recommend and live by getting my hair trimmed every three months, so you’re looking at four times a year.

“By doing it that way you’re going to avoid cutting off large amounts at a time because so much of it is dead.”

And when it comes to styling, Courtney says that you definitely have your straighteners turned up too high.

She says: “Please for the love of God turn down your hot tools, they do not need to be over 370, 350 is kind of the sweet spot so turn those hot tools down.”
