A WOMAN who was desperate to have a nose job but had £20,000 of debt came up with a very lucrative way of making cash.

Melanie Brecht, 25, has revealed how she started flipping TVs and has made so much money she’s cleared all her debt and had her £15,000 nose surgery too.

She started her side hustle in February 2021 as a way of clearing debt she had from her business administration studies.

In 2016 when she was 19, she’d moved from Venezuela to Canada to start her studies, but was charged more for being an international student.

Melanie said she felt worried about paying off the money and funding her life after graduating.

Speaking to Insider, she said: “How am I able to afford a better car? Help my family in South America because things there are pretty bad still.

“So mainly I was discouraged because I didn't see a way out, not with my regular job and not in a couple years."

Thankfully she’s been able to clear her entire debt by flipping television sets on Facebook Marketplace.

She revealed: "I discovered that pretty much you can flip online if you know how to take better pictures, how to advertise it better, and how to make it look like it has an increased value than what it actually is without lying to people, just perceived value.”

Melanie got the idea to flip TVs after buying a used one on Facebook Marketplace in 2021 which she found was faulty.

STILL GOT IT

Despite the screen being broken, she was able to use the TV for a few days and then resold it on the platform for a higher price, making the buyers aware of the fault.

This then sparked the idea of buying TVs, using them for a few days, taking photos of it and then “repeat, repeat, repeat until I was making more than my job.”

After a few months in July 2021, she had paid off her entire loan.

She was then able to splash out on a bigger car so she could fit bigger TVs inside to sell.

A year after buying her new car, she was able to save enough to have cosmetic nose surgery in Toronto – something she had wanted since was 14.

Although the nose job price was $13,500 (£10,696), the total cost was $19,000 (£15,054) after she’d forked out for flights, hotel, and food.

She still flips TVs today and uses the money she makes to help her family back in Venezuela and invest in her retirement.
