WE’VE all seen the tasty looking giant chocolate slabs in shops, including popular store Hotel Chocolat.
But why fork out a fortune on one of the delicious treats when you can save money and make your own?
That’s exactly what one savvy shopper did when she bought all the ingredients for a fraction of a price, and then set to work on making the sweet treat from home using just a silicone mould.
TikTok user Lauren, who can be found via her profile at @laurenelizabeth_athome, said she’d decided to make the chocolate slabs as a cheap alternative Christmas present.
The Hotel Chocolate treats retail for around £16, but Lauren showed how the chocolates she used only amounted to approximately £5 – saving an estimated £11.
Lauren then uploaded a step-by-step guide on how you can do it too, as she captioned the post: “DIY Christmas Episode 2 – Super easy chocolate slab perfect for presents!”

“Then put your melted chocolate into a silicone mould – it just makes it easier to get out.”

Lauren then mixed the two together to create a marble effect, before putting her own unique stamp onto it.
She continued: “I then decided to swirl in some white chocolate and then I started adding all of my toppings – Caramac, Kinder, Maltesers.
“Let them set in the fridge for a few hours or overnight.
“And then I’ve got some boxes that I’m going to package them in.
“So I’ve wrapped them in grease proof paper and I’ve got some little personalised Christmas stickers and I’ve got it all gift wrapped.”
The creative social media user’s followers were a big fan of the idea and said they’d make them for the chocoholics in their life.
Many also pointed out the big price difference between Lauren’s DIY gift and the ones you can buy in the shops.
One wrote: “This is actually a great idea.
“Chocolate slabs like these can be really pricey to buy.”
A second said: “Ok, I love this idea.
“Definitely going to try it!”
