A MUM revealed that she allows her children to draw on the walls in their home and will never get them a chalkboard instead, as it would be messy and unpleasant.

Mum Linzy lets her autistic three-year-old son Harrison draw on walls in the house because he “loves art” and it is “his form of communication”.

She often talks about her son’s artwork on her Tiktok, but frequently receives unsolicited advice from people who tell her she shouldn’t allow her children to draw on walls.

Many people have advised Linzy to get a blackboard for the children or to make a chalk wall, but the mum doesn’t want to and she explained why in a recent clip.

She said: “Have we thought about doing a chalk wall for him instead? This is probably one of the questions we get asked the most. The answer is no.

“We don’t like chalk, we don’t like the texture, we don’t want chalk dust in the carpet, we also don’t want to deal with dry erase markers or chalk paint all over our bedding.”

The mum said she can’t understand why other people care so much about her walls.

She continued: “We’re using washable crayons. I don’t know why people make such a big deal about my walls – because they are mine – but also if we wanted to change them, Harrison’s dad is a painter.”

The video racked up over 300,000 likes and while some commenters supported the mum, others were still critical of her allowing her children to draw on the walls.

“POV: you can’t say ‘no’”, said one critical viewer, and another said: “It’s filthy looking.”

But many viewers could totally see where the mum was coming from.

“Oh my god, why do people care about other people’s homes?!” asked one supportive viewer.

Another agreed: “It’s washable, his dad is a painter, it’s not your walls, it looks to be in the basement where not everyone can see, y’all making me mad, what’s the deal??”

“She’s adapting to her child’s needs, what more could you ask from a mother? You’re doing amazing”, added another.

And a fourth said: “I don’t understand why adults get upset over kids expressing creativity on wider canvasses.”
