Zara McDermott has shared her workouts ahead of joining the cast of Strictly Come Dancing, which starts next month.
Zara, who rose to fame as part of the fourth series of hit dating show Love Island in 2018, was announced as part of the lineup on August 8 alongside celebrities such as presenter Les Dennis and former Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas.
In videos shared to her Instagram Story, the 26 year old can be seen stretching and using gym equipment in preparation for putting on her dancing shoes.
In one clip, she can be seen wearing a lilac sports bra and bright pink leggings as impressively does the splits.
Captioning the video, Zara penned: “Mobility & cardio are my current priorities when it comes to my fitness, trying to prep my body as best I can for [dancing woman emoji] 2 weeks and I will have my splits back properly."
In the next clip, she can be seen posing for gym mirror selfies as well as doing back barbell squats, increasing the weight as she went.
She wrote: “Getting back in my flow, I've been away from home for 6 weeks. One final week at work this week in Ibiza and then I'm back in the UK & back on my grind [flexed biceps and ok hand emoji] & trying to loosen up these tight hamstrings today [laughing face emoji]”.
Posting a Reel to her Instagram yesterday (August 13), the documentary maker looked over the moon as she spoke of her involvement in the upcoming series.
Beginning the video, she said: “This is probably one of the biggest things I will ever do in my entire life.”
She continued: “We had our first dance masterclass session the other day and we all met each other and we even met the pros which was amazing seeing them dance. I was like, ‘wow.’
“I'm so excited and I really want to just make my family proud of me. I'm honestly that girl who is to nervous to even dance in a nightclub at this point let alone in front of millions of people, what am I doing!”
She then teased that whoever she was paired with her would have “their work cut out [for them].”
“But life is all about pushing yourself outside of our comfort zone so here I am. My next question is, ‘who is my dance partner going to be?’ They are going to have their work cut out.
“Anyway I just wanted to say thank you guys so much for how kind and supportive you have all been. It means absolutely everything and I can't wait to be dancing for you.”
