‘The Wendy Williams Show’ host is spotted exiting her Manhattan apartment and being pushed in a wheelchair for the first time since speaking out about her health in a statement to her fans.
AceShowbiz –Wendy Williams apparently needs more time to recover from “serious” health complications. “The Wendy Williams Show” host appeared sick in a wheelchair as she was being escorted out of her Manhattan apartment.
In photos obtained by The Sun on Wednesday, November 10, the 57-year-old daytime diva was seen exiting the New York City building while being pushed by a male companion. For the outing, she wore a colorful patterned pink top and black pants with sneakers. She also had her handbag on her lap.
Wendy, who has battled multiple health issues since September, previously addressed her absence from her daytime talk show in a statement she shared on the show’s official Instagram account. “HOW YOU DOIN’? I MISS YOU ALL! As everyone knows, my health has been a hot topic. I’m making progress but it’s just one of those things that’s taking longer than we expected,” she stated on November 8.
“I’m a woman of a certain age, and I know enough to listen to my doctors and will return to my purple chair as soon as we all agree I’m ready,” Wendy continued. “I want to thank all of my staff and our guest hosts for stepping up and stepping in while I can’t be there.”
Wendy added, “I also want to thank Debmar-Mercury and our stations for being so understanding and supportive while I work my way back.” The TV personality then thanked her fans as saying, “Most of all, I want to thank my fans. I have heard your prayers and comments and feel all the love!”
Following her statement, a source claimed that Wendy is “getting better” and “making her own decisions as she sees fits.” A separate informant also said that the former season 12 contestant of “Dancing with the Stars” is “not getting worse.”
As her fans eagerly await Wendy’s return to her iconic purple chair, there’s chatter of an alternative plan as she “fails” to sign a new contract. Sources spilled directors in the New York market are currently considering moving Nick Cannon‘s talk show “The Nick Cannon Show” to take over Wendy’s 10 A.M. slot.
“If the ‘The Wendy Williams Show’ ends or she doesn’t come back to the show, they would feel comfortable sliding Nick into the 10 A.M. slot,” a source spilled to The Sun on November 10. The source noted that the slot “immediately follows the local news broadcast.”
In the meantime, a separate source said that there still hasn’t been any news of renewal for “The Wendy Williams Show” beyond this season and that distribution executives are likely to be waiting to see how ratings are if and when she returns. “It really all depends on what her ratings look like at that point. Right now, they’ve been stronger than expected without her,” the second insider explained.
