It’s been a hot minute since Ryan Eggold graced the primetime screen as Tom Keen in NBC’s The Blacklist. The actor has since moved on to lead another NBC show, New Amsterdam. With all of his success, Eggold still manages to keep a lot of his personal life private. That said, who is Eggold’s celebrity crush, and could the two ever be together?
Is ‘The Blacklist’ star Ryan Eggold single or married?
Many adoring fans of The Blacklist (or New Amsterdam) want to know if Ryan Eggold is single, in a relationship, or married. According to the Daily Telegraph, he could still be single based on his dating habits.
“I am an old man and go for the quiet,” he said. “I wouldn’t say I handle attention well; I’d say I stumble over pick-up lines poorly. I’m not good at any of that. I’ve been a 90-year-old man since I was 12 years old. I’m not good with it, but I try to stay at least somewhat involved.”
When Eggold played Tom Keep opposite Megan Boone on The Blacklist, rumors swirled that the two were dating in real life. Since his departure, it’s been confirmed that Boone has been in a relationship with Dan Eastbrook and the two share a daughter while Eggold’s official status is still a mystery.
In the past, Eggold’s been tied to Twilight actress, Ashley Greene but that ended before either confirmed the relationship existed at all. As for now, the actor’s social media presence still leaves room for a special someone to enter his life.
Who is Eggold’s celebrity crush?
When you’re the star of a hit show, and played other popular roles in other shows, you can probably shoot your shot with whatever celebrity crush you’d like. In Eggold’s case, he put it into the universe, but it likely won’t happen.
During an Entertainment Weekly video quiz, Eggold revealed his celebrity crush to be Penélope Cruz, who starred opposite Tom Cruise in the 2001 film, Vanilla Sky. However, Eggold’s currently out of luck with this one.
In July 2010, Cruz married her Vicky Cristina Barcelona co-star, Javier Bardem. The two met in 1992 while filming the Spanish comedy-drama Jamón Jamón. They didn’t find love until reuniting in 2007 and waited three years before making a public appearance together.
The couple has two children and keep their love life out of the limelight.
“It was a really good decision for us, not to talk about our relationship,” Cruz told Tatler. “It would feel very strange to do it a different way. I just couldn’t do it.”
Eggold is one ‘Today Show’ host’s ‘most embarrassing moment’
During a technically-challenged interview with The Today Show hosts, Eggold opened up about the new NBC streaming service Peacock where fans can watch episodes of both New Amsterdam and The Blacklist.
Also mentioned is the fact that Eggold has been deemed Al Roker’s “most embarrassing moment” on a show. The hosts explained that while Roker held a “Roker-Thon” years back, Eggold showed up and surprised the weatherman, to which Roker “completely blanked.”
“It’s not Al’s fault,” Eggold said. “I’m very forgettable. I have a very forgettable face.”
The actor may not snag a date with Cruz anytime soon, but fans of Eggold agree — his face is the opposite of forgettable.
