The ‘Gummo’ rapper was originally set to be sentenced in early 2020, but the prosecution has reportedly agreed to his request to have it happen before the end of the year.
AceShowbiz -Tekashi69 a.k.a. 6ix9ine apparently wants to learn of his fate sooner rather than latter. The incarcerated rapper seems to be ready to accept punishment for his federal racketeering case as he has reportedly asked for his sentencing date to be moved forward.
XXL reports that on Friday, October 4, U.S Attorney Geoffrey S. Berman filed paperwork where 6ix9ine’s lawyer Lance Lazzaro requests his client’s sentencing date be expedited. The 23-year-old hip-hop star, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, was supposed to be sentenced on January 24, 2020, but he wants it to happen before the end of the year.
According to court documents obtained by the site, the prosecution does not oppose the appeal. “Counsel for Mr. Hernandez respectfully requests that sentencing be scheduled on an expedited basis. The Government does not object to this request,” the document reads.
6ix9ine was arrested on racketeering charges in November 2018. He pled guilty to nine charges and faced a minimum of 47 years in prison, but he cut a deal in return for his full cooperation. He is expected to get a very light sentence or no sentence at all and will possibly be released as soon as early 2020. The New York native has reportedly turned down an offer to get into the witness protection program once he’s released in hopes of getting back to the music industry.
Due to his testimony and another key witness, former gang member Kristian Cruz, Nine Trey Gangsta Blood members Anthony “Harv” Ellison and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack have been guilty of various crimes.
Ellison, who is 6ix9ine’s former bodyguard, was found guilty of kidnapping the rapper, but acquitted of using a weapon during the July 2018 abduction. He was also found guilty of racketeering conspiracy, maiming and assault. He faces life behind bars when he is sentenced on February 26, 2020.
As for Mack, he was found guilty of racketeering conspiracy and narcotics trafficking. He also avoided a firearms conviction. He could spend up to 20 years in prison when he’s sentenced on February 19.
