Drop it like it’s … savvy legislative advice?

Snoop Dogg would like lawmakers to consider a “minority clause” as the march towards legalized marijuana continues.

“I think there should be some sort of minority clause, the way that they do in sports with the NBA and the NFL, where they make certain rules where the minority has to get the first dibs,” the 48-year-old rapper, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., said during a recent Revolt Summit panel in LA.

“Like, you gotta be somebody of color or somebody from that community to get first in action and then the rest of you motherf—ers with money get action. Because it shouldn’t be based on no money.”

Snoop’s comments point to the larger inequality of the legal cannabis industry being dominated by middle- and upper-class white people after decades of lower-class minorities bearing the brunt of marijuana-related prosecution, but the smoke-filled bubble may burst before parity can be achieved. The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this month that “the party is over for cannabis companies,” citing a nearly 40 percent drop in share prices, “a string of disappointing quarterly reports and mounting skepticism about the industry’s rosy growth forecasts.”
