Fans were left shocked when ITV announced This Morning’s husband and wife duo Eamonn Holmes, 62, and Ruth Langsford, 61, were being replaced by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond on their usual Friday slots. And when he decided to leave the broadcaster for good and join GB News, he admitted Ruth remained because, unlike him, she’s “not as vulnerable” to what TV producers may think.

The pair hosted This Morning’s Friday show from 2006 up until 2020.
But in a recent interview, Eamonn explained why Ruth stayed on despite his exit.
“She’s not as vulnerable to TV producers and what they think of you,” he said.
It comes after he confessed he was left very confused as to why ITV offered him no explanation for letting him go.
The presenter continued to tell The Times: “I don’t have any issues with that at all.
“I just have issues with why they can’t tell you your time is up.”
He added: “Just have a conversation, any conversation.”
After her husband announced his departure, Ruth confirmed in an interview with Best magazine that she would be remaining at the broadcaster.
“I’m still at ITV with This Morning and Loose Women,” she said, before praising her husband of 11 years for his bold move.
“I’m thrilled. It’s what he does best,” she beamed.
“He’s always been very entertaining on This Morning – Eamonn can turn his hand to anything.
“He’s a total news junkie, I’m very proud of him.”
She addd: “Yes, no more This Morning together – but it doesn’t mean there aren’t other projects we can do together.”
ITV released a statement confirming Ruth’s future, while also thanking Eamonn for his many years on-screen.
A spokesperson for ITV said!: “We would like to wish Eamonn all of the very best in his new role.
“As a duo, Eamonn & Ruth have been part of the This Morning presenting team for the last 15 years and we thank Eamonn for all of his hard work and contribution to the show.
“Ruth remains an important part of ITV Daytime both as a continuing member of the This Morning family and as an anchor presenter on Loose Women.”
