SEBASTIAN SHAKESPEARE: Princess Diana’s bridesmaid India Hicks shows she’s still flexible at 52

Princess Diana’s bridesmaid India Hicks and former model Sadie Frost prove being flexible isn’t only the preserve of the young.

Entrepreneur India, 52, demonstrated this while trying to put on a pair of eight-year-old knee-length black boots before heading out to a dinner in New York this week.

She posted online a picture of herself reclining on her hotel bed with her leg in the air as she pulled on the boot. ‘It was a wrestle,’ admits the mother of five.

Meanwhile, Sadie, two years older, proudly showed off the results of her life-long yoga practice.

At a retreat in Goa, which she describes as a ‘home from home’, Jude Law’s ex-wife struck an uncomfortable-looking pose that required her to lift her leg above shoulder height.

Ghislaine Maxwell, the friend of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, made a lasting impression on New York society.

As Kelly Morris, an American yoga instructor and meditation teacher to the rich and famous, can testify. She was invited by Ghislaine to go to her New York home for a private session.

‘It ended up being one of the more distasteful experiences in my yoga career — and, actually, life,’ says Morris. ‘I charged $500, cash only. What the market would bear and all that.’

She says she would tell customers beforehand to leave an envelope of cash by the front door ‘so that our sacred and holy yoga exchange wasn’t sullied by the inclusion of hard cash’.

‘Ghislaine chose to ignore those instructions,’ she adds, in an online blog.

‘Her office was mostly black lacquer, floor-to-ceiling mirrors, huge red flowers, a kind of tacky opulence reminiscent of Studio 54 and wholly unsuited to daytime or yoga.

‘As I stood there, impatient and irritated at the foot of her desk, she gazed at me, playing with the cash back and forth, hand to hand, flirting, teasing. I said nothing and watched her.

‘She went on like that for a while, then leaned out over the shiny black desk and offered the bills to me. “Smell it,” she commanded, “I want you to smell it.”

‘”Not a chance,” I said, and took the money from her hand and left, never to return.’

Maxwell, 58, has been a central figure in a string of sensational lawsuits in which it has been alleged she acted as a ‘madam’ for wealthy paedophile Epstein.

In court papers, it has been claimed that Maxwell not only trafficked girls to Epstein, but that she also took part in the abuse. She strenuously denies the allegations.

The Duke of Duchess of Cambridge are pulling out all the stops to prove their ‘woke’ credentials.

Shortly after attending the Baftas with her husband Prince William, who spoke about the lack of diversity in film, the Duchess visited South Wales and wore an eco-friendly scarf.

The £95 heart-print accessory is from Beulah, the label co-founded by her friend, Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs, which supports victims of trafficking.

‘By wearing it, Kate is helping to provide vulnerable women with sustainable employment opportunities,’ says a spokeswoman for the brand.

Donald Trump seems to have failed to win over fellow Republican Clint Eastwood.

Asked for his view on Trump’s presidency, the Hollywood legend replies: ‘My observations are the good, the bad and the ugly.’

He won election as the non-partisan mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, in the Eighties but resisted the temptation to pursue a career in national politics. Perhaps he didn’t feel lucky…

The Duchess of Sussex has a new nickname courtesy of Dame Edna Everage. ‘I’d never call little Meghan “Minxy Meghan” to her face — that is very private and confidential between me and my fans,’ says Dame Edna.

‘We actually share something in common because I’m stepping back just like Meghan and Harry.

‘The Queen said she hopes they continue to step back. She doesn’t mind how far they continue to step back in Canada. They wanted to come to Australia but I talked them out of it.’

Former ‘It-girl’ Tamara Beckwith reveals she has adopted two koalas for her younger children, Vero, five, and Vivi, ten, following the devastating bushfires Down Under. She is now the proud owner of two adoption certificates from the Koala Preservation Society Australia.

‘The children begged me to help them do this,’ she says. ‘Not sure where I would house them if they ever decided to visit.’

Society model Cecilia Chancellor

Society model Cecilia Chancellor admits she wouldn’t have been successful if she had started out in the age of Instagram.

‘I was incredibly shy when I was young. I wasn’t at all an extrovert, self-publicising,’ the former Vogue cover girl (left) tells me.

‘In the old days if you just looked great, that was enough. Now I feel with social media you have to have this level of comfort with self-advertising.

‘The Hadids and Kendall Jenner have all those followers from reality television so they have grown up in the public eye.

‘Some people like their lives like that, but I don’t get it. It’s nice to have some substance behind it, something real.’

Greta Thunberg’s environmental campaigning has become tainted for Eighties pop star Marc Almond.

‘I think she’s fantastic and I admire her, but as a person I just find her incredibly irritating and she annoys me,’ the Soft Cell singer admits.

‘Greta is absolutely a force for good but I don’t warm to her. I find her very shouty.’

Almond is doing his bit to save the planet. ‘I’ve been buying land to plant trees on and I think we should all plant two trees in our lifetime.’
