Sir Rod Stewart was pictured on crutches at the weekend – five days after a painful knee operation.
The singer, who was released from hospital to celebrate his 75th birthday with friends and family on Saturday night, was snapped at the sidelines of his son’s football game yesterday.
Rod, who shares two sons Alistair, 14, and Aiden, eight, with wife Penny Lancaster, 48, looked remarkably sprightly following knee replacement surgery on Tuesday.
Rod had a rocky start to the year and was charged with “simple battery” in January after allegedly punching an employee at a children’s party on New Year’s Eve.
New pictures show the rock star in a monogramed padded coat and checkered flat cap as he hobbled about the field with the walking aid at the weekend.
He wore a huge smile on his face as he watched his son’s team kick the ball around on the football pitch.
The Maggie May hitmaker was seen alongside his wife of 12 years, who was suitably dressed for the winter weather in a navy blue parka jacket worn over an oversized roll neck jumper and skinny jeans.
Rod looked less impressed shortly after when he was forced to sit down and rest his legs as his wife filmed the game on her phone.
Two days ago Penny took to social media to give her 94,100 Instagram followers an update on her husband’s health following his operation.
She posted a picture of the birthday boy which showed him during his hospital stay wearing a fluffy white dressing gown with a birthday cake and a big bunch of foil balloons.
She wrote: “Roddy is doing remarkably well after his knee replacement surgery on Tuesday (so well that the naughty boy keeps trying to walk without his crutches).
She went on to say: “Luckily he is being discharged today to celebrate his 75th tonight and home this weekend to see the boys play football!”

On Saturday night, Rod put on his glad rags to celebrate his milestone 75th birthday at The Ritz in London.
Again, the smartly-dressed singer was snapped on crutches, making his way to the venue.
The father-of-eight looked sharp in a black suit worn with a white shirt and waistcoat, while his wife wowed in a low-cut animal print dress and high heels.
Following the bash, Penny shared a picture of the Celtic fan and some guests online and told her Instagram fans: “Nothing but the best for Rods 75th @theritzlondon with family, friends and Celtic themed gifts.”
