Piers Morgan, 55, has been urged to drop the names of the Royal Family members who he claimed showed “gratitude” to him. The former Good Morning Britain host said he was thanked on behalf of prominent palace members for defending them, after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made a series of bombshell claims during their sit down interview with Oprah Winfrey last month.
I’m not going to go into who it was
Piers Morgan
The TV host made the admission in an interview with Extra’s Billy Bush, which aired last night in the US.
Piers was asked if anyone from the Royal Family had reached out following the landmark chat with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
He said: “I’ve had some messages communicated to me on behalf of several members of the Royal Family.”
The former GMB host would not reveal if it was senior members who had got in touch.
“I’m not going to go into who it was… but gratitude that somebody was standing up,” he said.
However, viewers were quick to ask which Royals he was talking about in particular. It comes after he expressed annoyance when Meghan had discussed how one senior member of “the firm” had concerns over the skin colour of her then-unborn son Archie Harrison Mountbatten.
In the interview with Oprah, the Duchess Of Sussex had said there was a comment from an unnamed senior member of the Royal Family, about “how dark” her son’s skin may be.
She told Oprah: “They were saying they didn’t want him to be a prince or princess, which would be different from protocol, and that he wasn’t going to receive security.”
Meghan said. “This went on for the last few months of our pregnancy where I was going, hold on for a second.”
According to Meghan, the decision for Archie not to have a title nor security was made in tandem with “concerns and conversations about how dark his skin might be when he’s born”.
Buckingham Palace spoke out in the days that followed and said issues would be addressed “privately”.
A statement added Harry and Meghan would always be “much loved” by the family.

Prince William told reporters the Royal Family was “very much not racist”.
On Twitter following Piers’ comments, one fan said: “Piers was LIVID that Meghan didn’t name names. On principle alone, he should name names otherwise he’s done the exact same thing and is a massive hypocrite.”
“#PiersMorgan demanded that #MeghanAndHarry name names when he went on TuckerCarlson show. Um, Piers then name names yourself, lead by example, which members of the Royal Family praised you for trashing Meghan ?! #PiersMorgan,” urged another.
A third agreed, chiming in: “So, Piers Morgan says he’s had messages from the Royal Family ‘gratitude someone was standing up for them’ Away Piers, where’s the proof, you know the thing you are begging Meghan and Harry for, surely you’ll have some from these supposed messages or are you a lying hypocrite.”
And another reminded the TV personality: “@piersmorgan who says the Royal family messaged him with ‘gratitude’ after Oprah – and he raged at M&H for NOT giving names!!! If true give us NAMES Piers! That’s what u demanded… #Hypocrite.”
While a fifth responded: ” She got him blasted off GMB but he can speak elsewhere he’s a free agent…good on him I’ve always had a lot of time for Piers.”
A sixth typed: “Piers’ views are the same as 75% of the British public.”
During an interview with Fox’s Tucker Carlson on Monday, Piers raged over Meghan and Harry’s refusal to name the member of the Royal Family who supposedly made racist comments about Archie’s skin colour.
He said: “As a British taxpayer, who helps pay for the Royal Family, I would like to know, actually, if there is a real racist inside the Palace.”
A representative of Piers Morgan’s has been approached by Express.co.uk for comment.
