Paul O’Grady believes he has coronavirus, and is battling the condition with a homemade remedy.
Covid-19 has infected more than one million people around the world, with the death toll in the UK rising to 7,988.
And the TV host revealed that he came down with the disease – and ‘just got on with it’.
During a chat with Gabby Roslin, he opened up about his symptoms, admitting he felt ‘someone had it in’ for him.
‘I’m alright now. Last week I had flu like symptoms,’ the 64-year-old began. ‘I didn’t have the cough bad, I certainly didn’t have the temperature or anything like that so I just got on with it.
‘That was when the heating had gone so it was minus two down here and freezing and I thought someone had got it in for me. I’m fine now.’
When asked if he thought he had come down with coronavirus, he explained that he ‘definitely’ battled the condition – as it was very different to a normal cold or flu.
‘Most definitely. That’s knocking about, but there’s also flus and seasonal colds going about so you’ve got to tell yourself and learn the difference,’ he continued.
‘The coronavirus – you’d know if you caught that. I lay on the couch with the fire on and the dogs on top of me moaning.
‘When you are lying on the couch dying, or you think you are… It was sheer exhaustion like Chris Evans had too.’
But Paul concocted a homemade mixture – which has not been approved by Public Health England or any officials – in a bid to help sort his symptoms out, a recipe he knocked up from those who suffered the plague.
Lifting the lid on his ‘cure’, he added: ‘There’s a concoction – four thieves vinegar – and I made it up.
‘Basically this is the recipe which is cider vinegar with as many cloves of garlic in it as you can take and four different kinds of herbs to represent the four thieves.
‘I’ve got a bit of rosemary, parsley, and lemon grass, and bay leaf and leave it to steep and just have a tiny little bit every day.
‘I’m having it at the moment, oh God yeah.’
Sounds… delicious?
While Paul is sipping on his herb cocktail, this has not been sanctioned by the government or Public Health England.
Instead, those suffering from symptoms or suspected coronavirus have been advised to isolate in their home for seven days.
People have also been instructed to wash their hands, keep a two-metre distance from others, and only leave their homes if it is absolutely necessary.
