“I’m actually really, really excited. It used to give me a lot of anxiety but putting out ‘vampire’ has been such a wonderful experience and it feels really cathartic to kind of release music that has been so close to me for so long. I’m very excited,” the actress told Davis Burleson on SiriusXM’s TikTok Radio.
“It’s, I think, a little rockier than SOUR, definitely a lot happier,” she teased of GUTS. “I think it’s a little tongue-in-cheek and a little playful, which is a side of myself and my music that I think I didn’t really show in SOUR, so I’m really excited to kind of explore that in this album and yeah. It’s just all around, I just hope it kind of showcases I guess how I’ve matured as a 20-year-old girl. That’s my goal.”
Previously, Olivia has shared that they really tried to make GUTS different from SOUR.
“I feel like musically, we worked really hard to make something that felt fresh and new and exciting to me without completely just diverging from everything that we did on the last album,” she told Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1. “And so to me, this new album GUTS and this new song ‘vampire’ feels like a natural progression, a natural step forward in my life and sound and music.”
