BBC Breakfast presenter Naga Munchetty, 46, has fired back at one of her Twitter followers after they suggested she should have “given up alcohol” following her “appalling behaviour” on Saturday Kitchen in February. The Twitter user also declared that Naga’s recent on-screen appearances had led them to switch off and avoid tuning into the morning show.
It comes after the star admitted on social media that she was unable to purchase a bottle of wine after leaving her ID at home yesterday.
Naga penned in view of her 254,000 followers: “Am winning at life in a small way this morning…
“Just been refused to be sold a bottle of wine at the local supermarket by the lovely lady at the till because I had no I.D. YES!”
However, it seemed that one of Naga’s followers wasn’t as delighted as she was over the blunder.
They replied: “Would have thought after your appalling behaviour on @SaturdayKitchen You would have given up alcohol.
“I certainly stopped watching @BBCBreakfast after watching some of your performance I couldn’t stand the whole show.”
The Twitter user’s comments about Saturday Kitchen come after the BBC show received over 700 complaints about Naga and her co-star Charlie Stayt’s appearance as guests.
In response to the backlash, the BBC said: “Saturday Kitchen Live’s format allows for an informal chatty style and the guests are encouraged to feel relaxed in the studio.
“Some viewers found the behaviour and comments of the guests this week to be inappropriate and that they were rude to presenter Matt [Tebbutt].
“We appreciate the feedback and we shared it with the Saturday Kitchen team.”
After spotting the viewer’s scathing remark, Naga replied with a witty comeback.
She hit back last night: “Yet … you still follow my Twitter account.

“The mind boggles.”
Fans took to the comments section of Naga’s retort and defended her.
One person wrote: “People who watch breakfast regularly on a Saturday will know you always have banter with Matt on Saturday kitchen, I for one love that banter and thought you and Charlie were fab on there.”
Another added: “You are the best…beautiful, funny, more intelligent than anyone I can think of, incisive, golfer, o my word..what’s not to love? X.”(sic)
A third fan commented: “Naga I enjoyed your appearance on Saturday kitchen, I thought it was fun. Sad that some people have no sense of humour.”
A fourth agreed: “How was this not just some BBC colleagues having fun?? ‘Appalling Behaviour’ for goodness’ sake …lighten up…I bet even Matts mum thought it was funny!”(sic)
A fifth replied: “Drink!!! Nah it’s a normal person having a good time, keep entertaining us Naga, it’s what keeps us going in this crazy world.”
“Never change Naga! We love you just the way you are! 🙂 xx #Cheers,” a sixth person responded.
