The 2020 MTV VMAs are continuing to face many hurdles.

The upcoming awards ceremony, which is set to broadcast live on August 30, is planning a remote production involving multiples stages, crews and talent after abandoning initial plans to host the event at the Barclays Center – and the final performer count is possibly up in the air, via Hits Daily Double on Friday (August 21).

“Some sources have reported issues with the COVID compliance team. A bubble has been created at an L.A. hotel for the artists and their teams, along with a bubble for production at the custom-built soundstage for the event.”

Current planned performers include Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande, The Weeknd and BTS.
