Meghan Markle, 38, once again came under fire from Lady Colin Campbell, 69, when the famous socialite complained about her “graceless” behaviour. “Diana would be appalled, she had enough nous to know when to put on a show,” Lady Colin told Woman magazine. “She was very aware of how important it was to be gracious, while Meghan — and Harry to an extent — trot out the charm when it suits them, but otherwise are graceless. Her behaviour shows a lack of understanding and appreciation of what being royal is.
“I’m not sure who she thinks she is behaving this way,” she added.
Lady Colin recently blasted Meghan for guest editing the September issue of British Vogue, saying the royal was “acting like a celebrity”.
“Royalty do not behave like celebrities do,” she insisted.
“It’s cheap, vulgar and irresponsible.”
The author previously said she was “rooting” for Meghan during an appearance on Good Morning Britain.
Nonetheless, she added: “I have to say, the ride has been rather rocker than one would have hoped.
“I have an awful feeling that Meghan needs to understand things that she doesn’t yet understand.”
She went on to highlight the “massive difference” between being a celebrity, “hustling”, and being a royal.
“She’s sorted, she’s got it, I think she needs to now embrace it and understand it’s a new game in town,” Lady Colin said.
“She’s an actress, she needs to come up with a new act!”
On the subject of the way the royal couple have been handling their public image, royal author Juliet Rieden has said Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are taking “control” with a key move.
Speaking to Nine News Australia, she spoke about the pair “leading from the front” and controlling their own media through the use of social media, having launched their official Instagram account earlier this year.
She went on to address Prince Harry’s plan for a mental health documentary seres with Oprah, 65.
“I think it’s a natural fit, actually,” she said. “When you think about the way that Oprah has gone about her own charity initiatives.
“Oprah, obviously being American, being a good friend of Meghan’s she was at their wedding,” Juliet continued.
“It’s an interesting initiative to see a royal on a bigger stage there with a veteran of the TV industry.”
