Marvel star Josh Brolin has issued an apology after he posted a photo on Instagram which appeared to show him and his family breaking social distancing guidelines which are in place due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Thanos actor recently shared a photo which showed himself, his wife Kathryn Boyd and their young daughter, Westlyn, outside the home of his father James Brolin and stepmother Barbra Streisand.

All of the adults in the photo were wearing masks and they appeared to be keeping a distance from each other, but many of his fans were unhappy that he had gone to visit family who live at a different house.

Brolin deleted the photo and has since shared a video on Instagram captioned “Thanks for the reset. #respectsocialdistancing”, in which he apologizes for the photo, saying that he had been “irresponsible”.

“My father lives next door to us, and we had a plan to go see them and not be near them and that plan was broken and that’s our responsibility,” he said. “I think it was irresponsible.

“You know, it’s hard to be honest sometimes. It’s hard to be honest and say, ‘maybe I screwed up’ and I knew that that was in the air, not because of the responses, but because the responses brought me back to my own truth and it’s humbling as hell, man.”

He added that he feels a sense of responsibility to his “fellow man” and said that he is aware that it is more important to get through the pandemic, even if it means going “overboard” when it comes to safety measures.

Brolin isn’t the only Marvel actor who is contending with the measures in place, as Thor actor Chris Hemsworth recently had a video interview crashed by his children.

With the actor having no choice but to conduct the interview in his home, he struggled to focus on answering questions while his kids were in the room with him, one of them even “throwing pillows at the computer”.
