Mariah Carey shared “In the Mix,” the theme song she has penned for ABC‘s upcoming series “Mixed-ish.”
“Mixed-ish,” a prequel to the hit sitcom “Black-ish,” premiers on September 24 on ABC.
The visual that accompanied the music video shows Carey singing, “In the mix, life turns around/Round and round it goes/It’s a mixed up world, that’s for sure/But in the mix, we’re gonna get by on our own, side by side/That’s all we need to be free/I got you, you got me.”
The video also features Carey’s 8-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, cheering, “Yay, us!” right through the tune.
The series, narrated by Tracee Ellis Ross, follows the early life of her “Black-ish” character Rainbow Johnson.
“As a biracial woman in the entertainment industry, there was no way I did not want to be a part of Mixed-ish, especially after seeing the pilot, which I loved,” The Wrap quoted Carey as saying.
She added, “I could not be more honored and proud to be writing and performing ‘In the Mix’ for Kenya Barris and the show.”
Carey’s last album was Caution in 2018.
