The man who coined the phrase Wagatha Christie which has taken the internet by storm says he's been offered a knighthood and even had a marriage proposal.
Dad-of-two Dan Atkinson can be unmasked as the guy behind the hilarious pun after Coleen Rooney's showdown with Rebekah Vardy over the leaking of private – fake – information to the press.
The 39-year-old was also asked to become Prime Minister and received calls he should land this week’s £170million EuroMillions jackpot.
Dan tweeted the phrase on Wednesday at 11.15am, just 45 minutes after Coleen dropped her bombshell allegations.
The wife of ex-England captain Wayne used her detective skills to uncover that someone operating Rebekah's Instagram account had been leaking stories to a British newspaper
Dan – who works as a comedian – tweeted: "Coleen Rooney: WAGagtha Christie."
He said: "I knew the tweet was a neat pun, but anyone who says they can guess what will go crazy is lying, aren't they?
"I tend to stay off Twitter these days because for every amazing day like Wednesday, there are most days where it's too chippy and reductive to be fun.
"So given I stay away mostly, I must have had an inkling the tweet was decent.
"My first thought when I saw it trending was 'I wish I had spelt it correctly'."
While many other people subsequently tweeted the joke, Dan was confident he was the first to make the Agatha Christie pun.
He went on: "As far as I know I was the first person on this one.
"Pretty funny really for a four-word tweet, I have had a marriage proposal and suggestions that I become prime minister and also be knighted."
But the comedian – who is a producer on Russell Howard's TV show – said many people questioned him.
"There were many Twitter archaeologists on the case all day," Dan, of Folkestone, Kent, explained.
"Someone found my tweet and said, 'Look at the time, I think this is it' – then another said, 'Yeah but what time zone?'
"You have to admire their rigour."
His pun tweet ended up having almost 4,000 retweets and more than 23,000 likes.
It was also one of the top trends on Twitter for two days.
It was celebrated across social media, as well as ending up headlines on many newspaper articles.
Coleen Rooney’s Wikipedia page was even updated to dub her WAGatha Christie.
Jennifer Stevens tweeted: "Can whoever thought of Wagatha Christie please be given last night's Euromillions jackpot please."
Leigh Curtis wrote: "No idea who came up with it, but dubbing Coleen as 'Wagatha Christie' is absolutely sensational."
Nihal Arthanayake added: "Can anyone come up with anything better than 'Wagatha Christie' (I didn't come up with it!) to describe Coleen Rooney?"
The joke was a play on the name of Agatha Christie – known as the Queen of crime – who invented famous detectives such as Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple.
The Rooney v Vardy drama immediately became known as WAGatha Christie.
Coleen set a trap to find out who was giving out information from her private social media accounts.
The 33-year-old posted a number of fake stories, and blocked all of her other followers, so she could work out who was leaking to the press.
She dramatically unveiled her findings, pointing the finger at the wife of Leicester ace Jamie Vardy – who has denied the accusations.
