Love Island 2020 will reportedly be filmed in the usual Majorca villa in Spain as an insider has slammed rumours claiming the hit dating show will take place in London.

The ITV series' future has been uncertain since the deadly coronavirus pandemic forced millions of people to hold off on travelling anywhere abroad and has halted the filming of beloved TV shows like EastEnders and Coronation Street, too.

A rumour had been circulating that the show bosses have been considering filming Love Island in London to be able to ensure the safety of new contestants.

But an insider has now put the rumours to rest as they claimed that the reality show will take place in Majorca as usual.

They told The Mirror: "Reports that bosses are looking at London as an alternative are rubbish.

"Love Island is all about the sunshine and those skimpy outfits around the swimming pool as well as the sexual chemistry between the girls and boys.

"It has that holiday vibe which they just wouldn't be able to ever replicate on a dreary Wednesday in September in London."

The source went on to explain that the show will start filming in four months' time as they said: "The plan is still for the show to be filmed at its famous villa in Majorca.

"By delaying the start until the end of August or beginning of September they're pretty confident it will be able to go ahead there.

Love Island: What are the old islanders like Rykard Jenkins and Jess Hayes up to now?

"It's still a way off and they are taking one week at a time but they are speaking to their fixers in Spain and the advice was to delay it until then."

They added: "The weather is still amazing in Mallorca right up until the end of November. So even if it doesn't start until September the six week run will not be affected."

An ITV spokesperson told OK! online that it was simply too early to talk about the future of Love Island while the pandemic is still ongoing.
