Founding father of rock Little Richard had died aged 87.

His death was confirmed to Rolling Stone by his son Danny Penniman. 

At this time no more details have been released on his passing.

Danny told the Rolling Stones the cause of his father’s death was unknown.

After gaining fame in the 1950s Little Richard is said to have changed the face of music.

Little Richard became known for hits such as Tutti Frutti, Rip It Up and Rip It Up.
