Kate Middleton is celebrating the launch of her new coffee-table book, Hold Still, in a standout look.
The Duchess of Cambridge was photographed early this morning stepping out in London in a bright red wool coat dress courtesy of Eponine, a pleated champagne-hued midi skirt, coordinating brown stiletto heels, and dangling crystal earrings. She was visiting the National Portrait Gallery, where the selected 100 images that are part of her “Hold Still” project will officially become part of the gallery’s national collection.
Last year, Duchess Kate called for photo commissions from people all across the United Kingdom, looking for images that captured their experiences living through lockdown during the COVID-19 pandemic. Those images, curated by Kate herself, were then turned into a coffee-table book, also titled Hold Still, which releases to the public today with 50 percent of proceeds benefiting the National Portrait Gallery and its programming, and the other half going to the leading mental health charity Mind.
In addition to her visit to the gallery, the duchess took part in a community “book hunt” activation supported by The Book Fairies. The organization is a literary movement that encourages readers to leave books they have already read in public spaces for others to find. To mark the book’s official release today, 150 copies of Kate’s book have been hidden in secret locations around the U.K. by members of the “Hold Still” judging panel, including the duchess herself, for members of the public to discover and enjoy.
