Kanye West has confessed he stopped his wife Kim Kardashian from aborting their daughter North after "God sent him a message".

The 43 year old rapper made the shocking announcement during his first presidential campaign rally in South Carolina on Sunday, 19 July.

"My mum saved my life, there would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy."

Recalling a moment back in 2013 when he was faced with the difficult decision on whether to keep his own daughter North, now seven, he continued between tears: "I almost killed my daughter! I almost killed my daughter. Listen to me!"

Wearing a bullet proof vest, he explained: "In the Bible, it says, 'Thou shalt not kill'.

"I remember that my girlfriend called me screaming and crying, and I was just thinking, because at that time I was a rapper I was out there, [I had] different girlfriends and everything… and she said, 'I’m pregnant'. And I said, 'Yes!' And then I said, 'Uh oh'."

Kim, who recently gushed over her husband to wish him a happy birthday, and Kanye went back and forth about whether they would keep their little girl, but after a few months Kanye claims he received a message from God.

Speaking about his 39 year old wife Kim's reaction, he continued: "She was crying… and for one month and two months and three months, we talked about her not having this child. She had the pills in her hand.

"I’m in the apartment where my wife was actually robbed, and I have my laptop up and I have all of my creative ideas, I’ve got my shoes, I’ve got my next song cover… and the screen went black and white.

"And God said, 'If you f**k with my vision I’m gonna f**k with yours'."

The Stronger hitmaker realised at that point that they would definitely keep their child as he went on to say: "And I called my wife and she said, 'We’re gonna have this baby', and I said 'We’re gonna have this child'."

Later in his speech Kanye praised Kim as he added: "Even if my wife wants to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world even when I didn’t want to.

"She stood up and she protected that child."
