One of The Real Housewives of Atlanta stars has a really exciting piece of news to share:
She’s a mother once again!
Isn’t that right, Kandi Burruss?
Indeed, the veteran Bravo personality has confirmed that her surrogate just gave birth to her and her husband’s third child.
“She’s here! Blaze Tucker born at 6:54 p.m. on 11-22-19 weighing 8 lbs, 1 oz,” a text message the reality star sent to her fans reads.
It concluded: “I’m so thankful to add another healthy, beautiful, baby girl to the family!”
Burruss and Tucker are already parents to three-year-old son Ace, while the singer is also mother to daughter Riley, 17, and stepmom to Tucker’s 22-year-old daughter Kaela.
Kandi’s journey to motherhood, via this surrogacy, has been well-documented on The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 12.
Earlier this month, on the premiere, Burruss revealed that her surrogate was initially pregnant with twins, but one of the embryos was lost.
“We actually was supposed to be having twins, and then one of them didn’t continue,” Burruss explained on air, adding:
“I was sad at first, but then I just had to be grateful that the one made it.”
Back on Season 11 of this same franchise, Burruss told viewers and friends how she was worried about carrying her own after a high-risk pregnancy with Ace and her history with fibroids, which are noncancerous growths in the uterus.
Hence the decision to use a surrogate in order to expand her family.
“To allow somebody to carry my child inside of them? It was a tough decision to make,” Burruss said on the show.
And yet this is a perfectly normal route that many woman take, most famously including Kim Kardashian of course.
Burruss later said that a conversation with Andy Cohen really helped get her mind right about the process as well.
“I had made a comment. I said something like, ‘I guess I’m gonna have a baby mama,’” Burruss said on Busy Tonight, explaining in more depth a few months ago:
“And he said to me, ‘Don’t you ever say that because you are the mother. And to say she’s your baby’s mom is taking away from you.’ It made me feel better.
“At the time I didn’t know that he was doing [surrogacy] too. And then when he announced it, he hit me up immediately and said, ‘Now you see why I felt so strongly.’”
Congrats to Kandi Burruss and her husband!
We’re so very happy for them.
