The ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’ actor joins the likes of Gigi Hadid, Sara Bareilles, and Whoopi Goldberg to quit the blue bird app after Elon Musk closed his $44 billion deal.
AceShowbiz –Jim Carrey is another celebrity to bid farewell to Twitter following Elon Musk‘s takeover. When announcing his exit, the “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind” actor treated his fans to his first cartoon creation.
The 60-year-old shared the announcement on Tuesday, November 29. “I’m leaving Twitter, but 1st here’s a cartoon I made with my friend Jimmy Hayward,” he first penned.
Jim went on to offer more details about his artwork. He explained, “It’s based on my painting of a crazy old Lighthouse Keeper, standing naked in a storm, summoning the angels and shining his lamp to guide us through a treacherous night. I love you all so much! ;^j.”
Jim joined the likes of Gigi Hadid, Sara Bareilles and Whoopi Goldberg to quit the blue bird app after Elon closed his $44 billion deal. “Grey’s Anatomy” writer Shonda Rhimes, Tea Leoni, Mick Foley, Toni Braxton, Soulja Boy and Elon’s ex Amber Heard also departed from the microblogging site.
Trent Reznor also participated in the mass exodus. Though he has always thought that Twitter was such a “toxic environment” even without Elon involved, he left the app for good following the Tesla CEO’s $44 billion takeover of the platform.
“We don’t need the arrogance of the billionaire class to feel like they can just come in and solve everything,” the Nine Inch Nails frontman told The Hollywood Reporter. “Even without him involved, I just find that it has become such a toxic environment. For my mental health, I need to tune out. I don’t feel good being there anymore.”
It was unveiled that the spread of hate has risen on Twitter after Elon officially took it over. According to the Network Contagion Research Institute, the use of the N-word on the site increased by almost 500% in a 12-hour period following the business magnate’s acquisition.
