I’m A Celeb: Rachel Bellew speaks on Tony’s clash with Fred
Tony Bellew’s wife has admitted that the former heavyweight boxer joined I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! in memory of his late grandmother. The 40-year old lost his nan just 24 hours before he found out he was going on the ITV reality show.
Speaking about Tony’s loss, his wife Rachael revealed that the sportsman will be returning to the UK to prepare for his grandmother’s funeral after he finishes his time in the Australian jungle.
She said to The Mirror: “Rose would be so, so proud of Ant. She passed away a few days before he went in so that was obviously very difficult for him. She was like a second mum to Ant – he absolutely idolised her.”
Tony is currently in the final four of I’m A Celebrity and will be up against politician Nigel Farage, ITV star Josie Gibson and Made in Chelsea’s Sam Thompson.
Rachael added: “He called her the ‘boss of the family.’ He is doing this for her and I know he will be thinking of her every day while he’s in there.”

During his time in camp, Tony previously revealed that him and his wife Rachael were left “skint” after he was crowned boxing world champion in 2016.
Speaking about his successful career to the campmates, he admitted: “We were in the kitchen and my missus said, ‘That it now then, that’s you done?’.
“And I believe that a man should go out and provide for his family, probably everyone doesn’t agree with this or like it anymore…I go out and work and I try to give them the best I can… she said, ‘What do you mean?’ I said, ‘We’re so far away from financial security.’ We were basically f***ing skint.”

Tony first started fighting in 2007 and has worked as a sports pundit since his retirement. He also appeared in Hollywood films such as Creed, Creed II and Creed III, which featured Michael B. Jordan.
He reportedly bagged himself £2.8 million after defeating David Haye, and earned £4 million in 2018 after he lost to Oleksandr Usyk before he announced his retirement.
