The iconic drum kit played by Rush‘s Neil Peart between 1974 and 1977 is set to go under the hammer as part of Bonhams’ Music Memorabilia auction.

The auction, which commenced on November 23, will go on till December 9.

Bonhams expects the the chrome Slingerland set used by Peart for recordings and live performances to fetch between $104,000 (£77,695) and $157,000 (£117,290).

The kit features dual blue heads printed with Rush’s logo and Neil Peart’s name as well as chrome-wrapped Tom-toms with an original head signed by Peart himself.

According to Bonahms listing, Peart purchased the kit in 1974 from Toronto’s Long & McQuade music store shortly after he joined Rush and started using it at his first performance with the band on August 14 that year.

The drummer used the kit for albums such as Fly By Night, Caress Of Steel and 2112 as well during Rush’s first live album All The World’s A Stage during the band’s three-night residency at Toronto’s Massey Hall.

According to Bonhams, Peart included the kit as a giveaway prize for Modern Drummer’s March 1987 issue. The set was awarded to New York drummer Mark Feldman in October that year. Feldman subsequently sold the kit to its present owner.

Peart passed away in January after a long battle with brain cancer.
