Disney has been facing some backlash after a list of titles of what was being removed from Disney+ was revealed.

Among those titles was the documentary, Howard, which shares the story of lyricist Howard Ashman, who penned songs for movies like Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid with composer Alan Menken.

Here’s a synopsis: Featuring never-before-seen archival footage, personal films and photographs, as well as interviews with Howard’s friends and family, the film is an intimate look at the Disney Legend’s life, his creative drive, and the process behind the music. Spanning his childhood in Baltimore, to his formative years in New York, and his untimely death due to AIDS, Howard goes in-depth to explore his journey to become the lyricist behind some of the most beloved and well-known classic family films in the world.

After it was revealed that the doc was being removed from the platform, the same day that the new live action The Little Mermaid hits theaters, many fans took to social media to share their dismay. Not only given the timing of the movie’s release, but also right before Pride Month in June.

Now, Deadline reports that the Howard documentary will not be removed from Disney+.

“The list of titles coming off of Hulu and Disney+ next week is still being finalized,” a rep for Disney shared with the site.

Previously, it was revealed that Disney was looking over content and will be “removing certain content from streaming platforms.”
