Prince William and Duchess Kate are celebrating nine years of marriage today, but due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic worldwide, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be spending their anniversary at home with their three children.
The royal couple, along with Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, are currently self-isolating at their Anmer Hall home, following government-advised stay-at-home orders in the United Kingdom.
Will and Kate acknowledged their anniversary via their Kensington Royal Instagram account earlier today, posting a throwback photo of their broadcasted wedding ceremony from Westminster Abbey in 2011.
“Nine years ago today – thank you for all your lovely messages on The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding anniversary!” read the caption accompanying the gorgeous shot of the duke and duchess.
According to People, the Cambridges will be spending their anniversary video-calling with family members and playing with their children. Per the outlet, William told the BBC in an interview that video-calling was a “really good way of keeping in touch” amid the ongoing global health crisis, while Kate acknowledged that caring for children 24/7 is certainly keeping them busy.
“It’s been ups and downs, like a lot of families self-isolating. George is much older than Louis is and things, but they are aware, I’m always surprised,” Duchess Kate told the BBC. “And although you don’t want to scare them and make it too overwhelming, I think it is appropriate to acknowledge it in the simple ways and age-appropriate ways.”
Like Will and Kate, and their little ones, other members of the royal family continue to self-isolate due to the coronavirus, with Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip staying at Windsor Castle, and Prince Charles and Duchess Camilla quarantining at their Birkhall home on the Balmoral estate.
