The lineup for the upcoming Hollywood Bowl Summer Season will feature Janet Jackson, The Beach Boys, and several other acts, according to an announcement by the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association.
Jackson is named to open the season with a performance on her Together Again Tour on June 10.
“It represents a multigenerational excitement,” says Renae Williams Niles, L.A. Phil chief content and engagement officer, of the Jackson concert. “One of the things that we really strive for is continuing to make great memories both for the artists and for the audience.”
Jill Scott, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Kool & The Gang, Sparks, Café Tcvba, Portugal. The Man, Maggie Rogers, and Louis Tomlinson are among several other acts named in the lineup.
Niles says the Bowl is intent on attracting diverse audiences and performers. The season will see more than 30 acts making their Bowl debuts.
“It’s a number that I asked for,” says Niles of the debuts. “And I’ve asked the team to keep tracking, just to make sure that there is that newness and that freshness … with different guest artists, composers and arrangers as well. We want to make sure that there’s always a sense of discovery for our audience.”
